Of all the projects I’ve ever worked on, the one that is truly the most creative and has had the most profound business impact is the agency itself: TBWA\Chiat\Day NY. Over the last 5+ years I’ve been the CEO. And in that time, we’ve gone from listless to A-List. From about 100 employees to nearly 500. From 1-17 in new business to 33 wins in 5 years. From $39Million in revenue to $110Million. Oh, and the best performance at Cannes Lions in the history of the agency. Check out what we’ve done here: www.tbwachiatdayny.com
McDonald’s was looking to do an iconic campaign in France. As TBWA global creative president, I assembled a SWAT team. Went to Paris for 5 days. And a Belgian team cracked “Picto.” Picto went on to drive so much design and activities throughout McDonald’s — even inspiring a new kind of store called, “Originals.” Here’s is the launch film the Paris team madehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFu4cN7Df-8
go. Two little letters. One big global idea. This is an empowering, omni-channel idea. Here is a fun spot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UruCoNvdHXs
Visa+Olympics+Stories+Morgan Freeman. We made a lot fo great work for this all under the “Go World” banner. A classic is here. There’s so much more where this came from. Have a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BU3jfbb172E
Nissan used SHIFT_ as a global tagline in 52 markets for 12 years. It was a rallying cry that said, simply, we look at the world differently. And we do things differently — to do them better. It helped change the fortunes of the company and even found its way to be the title of the CEO’s book. Have a look at some launch work here: https://vimeo.com/83390100
I’ve written and produced a lot of car ads in my career. But this one is my favorites. The idea, the casting, the performance, the music…everything. Have a look: https://vimeo.com/83487351
Steve Jobs presented our work. It was for the world’s first iAd. He loved what we did for Nissan. Here’s his quick and charming presentation from MacWorld: https://vimeo.com/83390100
The most noise we ever made on the Super Bowl was taking Pepsi off the Super Bowl. The Pepsi Refresh Project was as bold as it gets. A crowd-sourced idea before crowdsourcing was even a thing. It was all part of our “Refresh” strategy. Here’s a case study film: https://vimeo.com/83390097
Thomson Reuters is a complicated company. They are a media company. They are a data company. They are a tech company. They also serve multiple audiences: Finance people, lawyers, tax professionals, journalists. To clarify, simplify and unify TR, We wrote a simple, yet powerful idea: “the answer company.” These three words helped us create iconic work and even inspired a new kind of “white paper” we created on film — and called “Orange Papers.” Here is a simple launch film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfXc26cZblo
We worked with the Thomson Reuters Foundation to create a series of YouTube content featuring Unboxer-influencers who “Unboxed the Truth” about the horrors of modern slavery. This is the first one featuring Jacques Slade. We did everything from the idea to the execution of the “products.” Have a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CBTMHyutQU
Of all the Grammys campaigns, we have done, this first one is the best. Called, “The Next 50,” we celebrated artists old and new. It was incredible as OOH. Film was cool, too. Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXiiK0TuTB4
McDonald’s was looking for an unconventional brand campaign. We gave ‘em one. We told the story of the brand through the iconic McDonald’s Ronald bench. Here’s one of the 10 films we did: https://vimeo.com/83438892
Hot off the press: #nowyork is a grass-roots effort to combat the “New York is Dead” narrative. Created with support of the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment. See more here: https://nowyork.city/
Can one ad change history? Maybe. This one did pretty well. Wrote it, made it and uploaded it on Twitter. From there it took off. The team at Lincoln Project called it a “perfect ad.” Can’t argue with the results. Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0q5IpKsOZGM
